Planning permission has been granted so Brigg Garden Centre can expand.
New jobs and an additional cafe are planned at these sizeable premises just outside the town, off Bigby High Road, the A1084.
The development will create at least 22 new posts - "most likely to be occupied by local residents," the company informed West Lindsey District Council.
Brigg Garden Centres successfully applied for planning approval to remove an existing retail marquee and the construction of a two-storey extension at the front of its premises in Kettleby to create additional retail floorspace and a cafe, including reconfiguration of part of the existing car park at DN20 9HE.
The Gainsborough-based local authority has now given approval to British Garden Centres, which applied through a Leeds-based agent.
Information supplied to the council on behalf of the company said: "The proposed building will result in a loss of car parking spaces, although the existing car park provides more than enough space for both visitors and staff."
Reconfiguration of the car park will incorporate a new bus stop, an area for storage of bulky goods and a lay-by for collection of these items.
New pedestrian access will be created from the bus stop to the entrance.
Vehicular access to the site from Bigby High Road is to be retained, with a new bus stop within the site creating better links to Brigg town centre.
This will be used by the Hornsby company's No 92 bus operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
A statement explained: "The proposed development seeks to ensure Brigg Garden Centre remains competitive with other garden centres, improve the customer offer to ensure visitor numbers are maintained and new customers are attracted to the garden centre, and support the growth of the business and ensure its
long term viability."
The first floor of the proposed development will house "an additional café to serve the garden centre to meet customer demand."
Bigby Parish Council, whose area includes the Garden Centre, was consulted as part of the planning process and told West Lindsey planners it supported the garden centre's proposal.
A Brigg resident living on Bigby High Road objected to the application, saying "the volume of traffic is appalling" with weekends being particularly busy and making it "difficult getting in and out of our drive."
Lincolnshire County Council, the highway authority responsible for this part of the A1084, said it did not wish to restrict the granting of planning permission by West Lindsey District Council.
