NEW BRIGG SCULPTURE WILL BE MADE FROM STEEL

Planning permission is now being sought to erect a Holocaust memorial sculpture in Brigg.
It will be sited on the Millennium Green (pictured above) between Elwes Street and the Old River Ancholme.
An application has been submitted by North Lincolnshire Council and is now being considered by planners.
The structure will be made from  Galvan Steel, with a figure of Cor-Ten steel.
During a meeting in May, Brigg Town Councillor Chris Dyson suggested the use of Cor-Ten steel, which weathers to produce a chocolate brown colour.
He is a retired senior manager who worked in the steel industry for many years.
A competition was held, asking young people to come up with suitable designs.
The winner was Izzy Roberts, a year nine pupil at Sir John Nelthorpe School.
Her design will be installed at the Green, whose maintenance and management is now being overseen by Brigg Town Council.
The Town Council holds a poignant service in the Angel building every January to remember the victims of the Holocaust.
There is also a Holocaust Memorial within the Angel and a remembrance book people can sign.
Brigg has been marking Holocaust Memorial Day for many years. For a local authority in a town of Brigg's size to do this is admired far and wide by members of the Jewish faith and also those within the gypsy/traveller community.
As we all know, they suffered terribly under the Nazi regime.
