BRIGG PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY - COUNCIL GIVES THE ANSWER

In an earlier post, Brigg Blog asked whether the new Ancholme Valley Way track has replaced the old riverside towpath as a public right of way. Or are they both public footpaths?
A spokesman for North Lincolnshire Council has now replied, explaning: "The towpath is still the public right of way but, of course, people are welcome to walk whichever path they would prefer."
Brigg Blog raised the point while suggesting anglers should take care not to block the towpath with their long fishing poles and stands.

Wot about Market Lane?
.......it's been going on for ages and no-one out there in officialdom is able to give a legal definition of the lane....is it, for example, a road, a footpath or a bridleway?
It was official registered as a road in 1865 under the name of Market Lane, appropriately named as it led to the cattle market, before the cattle market was moved to the area of the Tesco filling station.
Previously, it was called Quipp's Lane after a family of bakers who live near its entrance.
Market Lane status/ usage was reduced in circa 1960's when the dwellings along Market Lane were demolished as part of Brigg's slum clearance scheme...it wasn't really redeveloped and the Tesco site largely stands on the footprint of the lane.
Any-road-up..it's like traffic in the pedestrian area....Tom, Dick and Harry wearing their jobsworth council hat are involved, but now't emerges.
