The Planning and Environment Committee, meeting in the Angel Suite, considered the pub giant's detailed plans and raised no objections.
North Lincolnshire Council will now have the final say on whether to grant permission.
Chairing the Town Council's planning meeting, Coun Donald Campbell said Wetherspoon's would bring employment, while Coun Chris Dyson pointed the firm would attract a lot of business to that part of the town.
Coun Ben Nobbs described it as "a major application" for Brigg.
Although raising no objections, the Town Council will be making some observations.
It wants to ensure that the historic town water pump - very close to the side wall of the White Horse - is not affected by any building work.
Town Councillors are also pointing out "some discrepancy" over the number of car parking spaces the pub will have following the redevelopment. Will there be only two?
On the detailed plans, Coun Dyson noted an area at the far end of the site, close to Barnard Avenue, which he described as undeveloped but which could perhaps be used for further customer car parking.

the development could created additional parking problems in the area (although it should be noted that other Wetherspoon pubs have operated in restricted parking area) - however, there has already been concerns expressed re vehicles using the pedestrian area and the need, perhaps to create loading bays on the periphery of the high street.
There is a potential danger that should the siting of loading bay(s) in the Wetherspoon area it could be smoothered in the excitement of the Wetherspoon's development
Overall, there is a need to consolidate any ideas viz-a-viz the pedestrian area; loading bays and any potential congestion with proactive solutions....
