A TWEET ON FEEDING THE BIRDS IN BRIGG

We smiled at a well-known Brigg company's imaginative Twitter message (Tweet) today: "Thomas Bell Country ‏@tbcountrystore  Mar 8 - 15% off all Wild Bird Food & Feeders ends this Sunday at 4pm. Worth tweeting about?!"
Do you remember comedian Ken Dodd - a favourite on the telly  years ago - starting a run of jokes with the following line? "What a beautiful day; what a beautiful day for...."
The weather folk - most of the high profile ones seem to be ladies these days - are forecasting a beautiful sunny Sunday for us. So perhaps it's an ideal time to get out and about.
Sadly, some members of the weather monitoring fraternity support the belief that spring now starts on March 1. No it doesn't...not in our book. We still believe in the Vernal Equinox (March 21) as being the point when the warmer (?) half of the year kicks in.
"Shoddy" Jarvis - long-serving geography master at Brigg Grammar School - taught us about the Winter Solstice, the Summer Solstice and the Vernal and Autumal Equinoxes (or is it Equinoxi?).
Over to our good friend Ken Harrison to take up the debate...
Returning to the subject of feeding the birds. Clearly "Twopence a bag" - included in the Mary Poppins musical of the mid-1960s - has been subject to rampant inflation.
