BRIGG SHOULD HAVE ROUNDABOUTS ON BARNARD AVENUE TO HELP TRAFFIC FLOW, SUGGESTS CRAIG AUSTIN

Just read your bloggy thing re. Barnard Avenue traffic lights. The obvious solution is to replace the damn things with ROUNDABOUTS. I've been saying it for years. Also perhaps (controversially) re-open the full length of Bridge Street (probably one way only) through Market Place and across the bridge and filter into Ancholme Way (to partially relieve Barnard Ave).
Market Place is big enough that a bit of through traffic shouldn't negatively affect activity that much. In fact it would add to the ambience & general atmosphere.
Strangers driving through would get to see how nice Brigg is rather than getting stuck in Barnard Avenue which is basically an ugly, unco-ordinated, bitty mess of (typical) bad planning.
Besides, Wrawby Street easily provides enough pedestrian area as far as I can see. Pedestrian precincts are OK but overrated.  And why couldn't they have at least kept the facade of the Brock Ox? People love the old world charm of somewhere like Brigg, not hideous modern developments.
The old Springs factory should have been converted into apartments. But it's all too late now.  Rant over.
Cheers - Craig

Perhaps a more simple solution to the traffic flow along Barnard Ave is to simply remove the traffic lights.
