BRIGG TURNS ON THE POWER

This long-shot view, taken this afternoon from Cadney Road, alongside the Old River Ancholme, shows a train drifting past Glanford Power Station, Scawby Brook, with a powerful diesel in charge. We've had plenty of freight trains passing through Brigg recently and expect a lot more in the coming months. The Brigg line, of course, is an important diversionary route when the one linking Immingham with Scunthorpe and Doncaster is out of action of undergoing repairs. If you live near the railway line, like me, you tend to notice the trains rumbling by at night.
But we should point out the railway has been in Brigg since the 1840s and was once very much busier than now, being the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway's primary route.

A bit romantic, aren't we, Scribs?
Since when does a train just 'drift' passed?
