UPDATE ON NEW BRIGG HOUSING SCHEME FROM COUNCIL LEADER

New housing is proposed for the Hewson House office site in Brigg and nearby land

A positive update has been given about plans to develop the Hewson House offices site in Brigg (and nearby land) to provide accommodation for people aged over 55.
Coun Rob Waltham told Brigg Town Council's latest meeting held on Tuesday night (March 22) that he was "pretty confident" the North Lincolnshire authority would soon have a development partner for this project.
As the leader of North Lincolnshire Council, he explained the site was "going up for disposal."
The aim was to provide various options for people; some would want rented accommodation with others wishing to buy their own homes.
Stressing that Holland Park, near Station Road, does not form part of the development site, he described the park as "a fixed, local protected space."
Replying to a question from Coun Ann Eardley about the redevelopment of workers formerly based at the Hewson House depot, Coun Waltham indicated Billet Lane, Scunthorpe.
Some confusion arose recently when a map issued by North Lincolnshire Council as part of a public consultation showed Holland Park in addition to Hewson House, its depot and rear car park, plus land behind and either side of the railway station.
