BRIGG TRAIN SERVICE RESUMPTION GETS THE GREEN LIGHT

Brigg has been without passenger trains since mid-January because of issues relating to the Covid emergency, but now there are positive signs of a resumption of the Saturdays-only service linking our town and Kirton Lindsey with Barnetby, Grimsby & Cleethorpes, Gainsborough, Retford and Sheffield, with three trains running in each direction.
Operator Northern, which runs passenger-carrying diesel units between Sheffield and Cleethorpes via Brigg and Barnetby, has a new timetable coming into operation in the middle of this month, meaning that Brigg and Kirton will receive trains again from SATURDAY, MAY 22.
The first train of the day from Sheffield to Cleethorpes will arrive in platform one at Brigg station to pick up passengers at 9.13am. Others heading for the resort will follow at 1.10pm and 4.56pm.
Trains to Sheffield will call at platform two (the far one) at 11.47am, 3.43pm and 7.48pm.
There's an opportunity to change trains at Barnetby to make Saturday visits to Lincoln, Nottingham, Doncaster and other destinations.

Passengers boarding at Brigg can tender their ticket money to the guard/conductor once they get on the train.
This is useful as it allows people, particularly families, to take a look at the early morning weather before deciding to catch the 9.13am train for a day out in Cleethorpes, including a visit to the beach which is literally a stone's throw from the terminus station.
