COUNCIL WOULD WELCOME NEW BRIGG RETIREMENT HOUSING OR 'CARE VILLAGE'

North Lincolnshire Council is currently inviting offers for THREE sites in Brigg with potential for redevelopment.
We recently reported that the former Brigg Youth Centre buildings and land on Grammar School Road have now been put on the market.
However, offers are also being invited for the former well-being hub and community centre off Horstead Avenue (pictured above) on the edge of the Springbank housing estate.
The local authority is marketing this as "residential development for sale" and says it is suitable for various uses subject to planning approval being obtained. The land and existing buildings cover 1.1 acres (0.46 hectares).
Would-be purchasers are advised that "the seller would welcome proposals from developers proposing the development of retirement housing, for example bungalows or a care village."
The council is also inviting offers for what it calls "a rare residential development opportunity within Brigg" - land off Atherton Way. This site covers approximately 11 acres (4.45 hectares) and is allocated for new housing within the Housing and Employment Land Allocations Development Plan Document. It comprises "previously undeveloped land and allotments."
The council explains that the allotments are being relocated to an alternative site.
This is a reference to new plots being created on part of Woodbine Park between South View Avenue and Preston Drive - the allotments to be managed by Brigg Town Council.
Some months ago the North Lincolnshire authority announced its intention to switch some community services to other locations in the town, including the Angel building. This explains the reason for seeking to sell the former youth centre and hub sites as surplus to requirements.
Potential buyers interested in any of the three Brigg sites are asked to contact the council's property and estates team on 01724 646009.
