BRIGG WATER LEAK AS TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW FREEZING

An underground pipe appears to have burst or sprung a leak on a Brigg housing estate this weekend.
The temperature dipped below freezing overnight on Friday, and early yesterday morning a utility company vehicle was on site at Yarborough Road, not far from the junction with O'Hanlon Avenue.
Water was still gurgling up from beneath the pavement last night, with gallons flowing down the street to nearby drains. Some roadside sandbags were evident near the source of the leak.
Brigg Blog has emailed Anglian Water Services - the local supplier - requesting details and comment. Reply awaited.

UPDATE: 3pm Sunday: A team from Anglian Water is still on site, working to sort the problem, assisted by a mechanical digger.
