Local band The Dirty Pitchers, who have built up quite a following in Brigg after appearances at a number of local licensed premises, have another high profile gig coming up this week. And it's free to attend.
The lads, who specialise in Britpop, will be playing at Scunthorpe’s first Big Summer Get Together, in the centre of the steel town.

FROM CHRIS O'ROURKE, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

We’re hosting a Big Summer Get Together at the Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire on Saturday 4 August 2018, from 11am to 4pm.
This free event is a first for Scunthorpe and will feature live music from local bands The Dirty Pitchers and Ramble Gamble, and performances from singer Miss Marina Mae.
There will be fun for all the family with craft and gardening activities, smoothie bike, and drumming sessions.
Food and drink will also be served throughout the day.
Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for Children, Families, Learning and Leisure on North Lincolnshire Council, explained the idea behind the event:
“We wanted to bring together residents from all ages and backgrounds to break down barriers and have fun as one North Lincolnshire community”, he said.
The Big Summer Get Together was the brainchild of the North Lincolnshire Youth Council, and was organised by North Lincolnshire Council and its partners.
Cllr Rose continued: “This event was thought up by our young residents who wanted to it to be an event for everyone. We’re grateful to the Engineering Northern Lincolnshire UTC for allowing us to use their town centre venue.
“It’s set to be a fantastic day with live music, entertainment, fun and games for everyone – don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!”
The Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire is in Church Square in Scunthorpe town centre.
