North Lincolnshire Council’s fostering team is holding a number of events throughout Foster Care Fortnight (16 to 29 May) for people to find out more about becoming a foster carer.
- Have you ever thought about becoming a foster carer?
- Could you provide a loving home for a child or children?
Take your first steps on the fostering journey by going along to one of the events and talking to the friendly fostering team.
The fostering service is focusing on recruiting more foster carers for teenagers and siblings. However, interest from potential foster carers who would like to foster children of any age are very welcome to attend the events.
There are many reasons why opening up your home to a teenager and siblings is a fantastic thing to do. Why wait any longer? You could be the person who makes a real difference to their life.
The fostering information events are taking place on:
- Monday 16 May at the Learning Development Centre, Enderby Road, Scunthorpe, from 5pm to 8pm.
- Wednesday 18 May at The Angel in Brigg from 11am to 3pm.
- Thursday 19 May at Sainsburys, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe from 12pm to 4pm
- Friday 20 May at Scunthorpe Hospital’s canteen from 9.30am to 3.30pm
- Sunday 22 May at Silica Lodge garden centre, Scotter Road, Scunthorpe from 11am to 3pm
- Wednesday 25 May at the Learning Development Centre, Enderby Road, Scunthorpe from 5pm to 8pm
- Friday 27 May at Asda, Burringham Road, Scunthorpe from 10am to 4pm
Currently there are around 125 foster carers in North Lincolnshire.

Coun David Rose, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “We believe that family care is the best provision of alternative care for most children or young people who become looked after. We offer foster carers in North Lincolnshire a high level of support, an excellent training package, financial support and we have a very positive, supportive fostering community.
“Throughout Foster Care Fortnight we are planning to increase our campaigns and encourage more people to come forward as foster carers particularly for teenagers and siblings. We are continually recruiting foster carers but over the next couple of weeks there will be plenty of opportunities for people to find out more about fostering at our drop-in events.
