ACTION STATION VISITING BRIGG

The Action Station will be visiting Brigg Library on Thursday, 16 June, from 10am to 4pm, to provide an information and guidance session.
Details on courses, apprenticeships and general employment advice will be provided. The aim of the session is to reach out to people who are not able to visit the Action Station’s base in Scunthorpe and those who are not aware of the support available.
You will be able to find out more about the Action Station and if required organise your own bespoke appointment to gain further support to meet your needs.
Drop-in to the session and find out how the Action Station can help you. Whether you want to carry out further training or start a new career, you will get the support you need.
The Action Station is a one stop shop for skills and employment, based on Cole Street in Scunthorpe. People over 16 can access support to improve their prospects of finding work, currently unemployed or looking to progress their career, the Action Station can help them find the right options.
Since the Action Station opened in October 2015 over 1,500 people have benefited from the services on offer.
Services available at the Action Station include:

  • Job Club – drop-in session offering support, skills and guidance for finding employment on Mondays (all ages) and Thursday (under 24s) from 1pm to 3pm.
  • Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Team – drop-in service for those aged 16 to 19 looking for careers advice and guidance Tuesdays to Fridays from 12pm to 3pm.
  • Armed Forces – drop-in session for anyone interested in joining the regular of reservist military services.
  • Training providers – recruitment sessions for anyone interested in traineeships and apprenticeships.
  • CV writing – advice and guidance on writing your CV on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (appointment only).

Coun Rob Waltham, of Brigg, Cabinet Member for Business, Innovation, Employment and Skills, said: “Since the Action Station doors opened last October we have provided support and guidance for over 1,500 people; this is a great achievement. We are committed to helping people access employment and gain further training to help them on the career ladder.
“A whole range of support is offered at the Action Station and we want to make sure that people across our communities are aware of this. This is why we have decided to visit Brigg to let people know how we can help them and talk about the fantastic support the team at the Action Station provides.
“If you are currently looking for work, would like to progress in your career or are unsure what you want to do next, go along to one of the sessions and speak to the team. They will be happy to discuss your options and point you in the right direction.”
