BRIGG & BRITISH SANDWICH WEEK

This is British Sandwich Week 2016 and there's no shortage of places in Brigg if you want to tuck into a tasty treat.
Many people who come to work in Brigg, but don't necessarily live in the town, leave the workplace and visit Brigg outlets to buy a sandwich for lunch.
If it's sunny and warm, many of them find a public seat and sit down to enjoy their sandwich.
Decades ago, of course, when habits were different and cash not so plentiful, folk made their own - at home.
Remember doing this with a freshly-baked loaf bought from Bowen's (long gone) or Dunham's (still going on Bridge Street, pictured above)?
We used to think that spooning Branston Pickle from a jar onto a cheese sandwich in the kitchen at home was the height of luxury!
Our personal nomination for the tastiest sarnie is corned beet, beetroot and lashings of mustard.
Do you agree? Or is Brigg Blog a sandwich short of a picnic? And not for the first time!
