EVERY LITTLE HELPS BRIGG CHARITY SHOP

The Sue Ryder charity shop in Spring's Parade, Brigg

We always enjoy receiving kind thank-you emails sent on behalf of the Sue Ryder charity shop in Spring's Parade, Brigg, to tell us that items we donated (mostly books) have made them a few bob.
Another has arrived from the charity's Director of Retail, saying: "The items you have brought into our Sue Ryder shops have raised £3."
Every little, helps! If you sign a Gift Aid form in the shop, it's worth another 25 per cent to Sue Ryder. Must be something to do with tax.
The kind director added: "Thank you so much for your support. The money your items have raised goes directly to pay for our incredible hospice and neurological care. It’s thanks to people like you that we can continue to support others at the most difficult time of their lives. Please keep your items coming, our shop teams are always pleased to see valued supporters as you again."
As we have a couple of weeks' holiday coming up from the day job, and will only be operating in a freelance capacity, we should have time to hunt out some more saleable items for them.
Brigg has a good range of charity shops. Take your pick where you donate your surplus items. We just find the location of the Sue Ryder shop very convenient, as you can park the car outside and pop in with your items. The same applies to the RSPCA shop, which is also served by the car park of the former Lidl store.
We have been involved in a good deal of fundraising down the years for the Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Scunthorpe, which also has a charity shop in Brigg.
As regular Brigg Blog followers will know, we always try and publicise the good work of the Oxfam and Red Cross shops in the town centre.
Hope we haven't missed anyone out! If so, sincere apologies.
In our Mr Brigg column in this week's Scunthorpe Telegraph we have written about an unusual way in which you can help Oxfam, in Brigg, if you are a car driver or own a motorcycle.
