Forward-looking Brigg Town Councillor Jane Kitching is already thinking ahead to the winter and the threat posed by ice and snow on our footpaths.
At the latest committe meeting in the Angel Suite, she reported one of the town's salt bins being empty. She wondered why this was, with winter approaching, and went on to seek a solution.Coun Rob Waltham, who is Deputy Leader of North Lincolnshire Council which is responsible for topping up the bins, said plans were in hand to ensure they were all fully stocked.
The distinctive bins are dotted about the town at key points - often near inclines. North Lincolnshire and Brigg councils work together in siting and stocking the bins for use by the community during bad weather, when the salt mix can be spread on badly affected footpaths.
Have your shovels at the ready!

Ironically, the nearest salt box..marked in BIG letters 'Salt' is near the rear courtyard entrance in the Angel car-park.....it was there before the green salt bin scheme was introduced...but it's been empty for years...indeed, it has been used as an occasional litter bin..
I have repeatedly informed the TC about the bin, emphasing that a salt box would be useful for the unfortunate snow-bound car in the car park..
guess what.?..nothing was done...
