DISTRICT MAYOR AT TONIGHT'S BRIGG OPERATIC PERFORMANCE

Brigg is to enjoy a visit by the first citizen of North Lincolnshire tonight (Thursday Nov 1).
Coun Ivan Glover, of Broughton, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire, will be attending the a performance of Carousel by Brigg Amateur Operatic Society at the Vale Academy, Westmoor House, Grammar School Road (7.30pm).
The Mayor is also to attend the Brigg Christmas lights switch-on ceremony in the Market Place on Friday, November 30.
He will be in Brigg from 4.15pm to join town councillors and invited guests in the Angel Suite before moving into the Market Place for the switch-on, which usually takes place about 5pm.
Brigg District Lions' Christmas Fayre will accompany the event, as always, and many businesses in the town centre will be staying open until 9pm for people to engage in a spot of Christmas shopping.
This night could well prove the best attended event of 2012 in Brigg - depending on whether you include the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the Market Place and the afternoon festivities that followed down at the Recreation Ground as a single spectacle.
