GOOD NEWS ON ACCIDENT FRONT

A heartening absence of serious and fatal road accidents on North Lincolnshire roads in March was reported by Pete Scott, head of safer roads, when he gave his quarterly update at the Brigg Neighbourhood Policing Public Meeting in the town's Angel Suite.
There was not a single case of a person being killed or seriously injured (KSI) last month. "And long was that continue," said Pete.
Official figures for 2009 were also revealed - 100 KSIs across North Lincs (8 fatalitie, 92 seriously injured), a reduction of 22 on 2008.

This is good news, but NLC must maintain pressure on the government to improve the A15 (towards Lincoln),which is essentially in Lincs CC.
In the medium/long-term the proposed port development about Immingham and the A160 will generate the need to improve the transport infrastructure in North Lincs.
Will, for example, the two-lane M180be adequate for the expected increase in haulage needs?
Improvements to the A15 will allow a fast route (via the A46 around Lincoln) to the A1(M).
Within the next 10 years, I foresee a dramatic restructuring of the area - apart from the industrial development, I wouldn't be surprised to hear proposals for a 'new town' about the Melton Ross area.
Indeed, what is being proposed now was originally, suggested in 1969(cf The Humberside Feasibility Scheme)...studies in the 1960's suggested and advocated that the area was ripe for development and the geography (including such aspects as water supplies, drainage and transport) would allow large-scale industrial and its associated residential development.
