BRIGG CAMPAIGNER IS HELPING OUR HEDGEHOGS

Brigg Town councillor Jane Kitching is busy collecting names for a petition  to help the hedgehog.
Many members of the authority, and members of the public, have already signed.
The national petition is calling for greater legal protection for these animals, often to be seen in Brigg gardens and hedgerows. Here's a link
The organisers need 100,000 signatures by August 11 to have a good chance of getting hedgehogs discussed in Parliament again.
Coun Jane gave Brigg Blog a copy of a useful leaflet, which mentions Hedgehog Highways.
Some house-building companies are ensuring all new homes have a gap in their fencing to allow hedgehogs to move from garden to garden.
You can find out more about the cause by visiting www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk
Hedgehog Awareness Week starts today, Coun Jane tells us. So this is a good time to add your support by signing the petition.
Our thanks go to Ken Harrison for the picture of Jane in Brigg town centre.
