There were defeats for two Brigg teams and one from Barnetby in the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe Football League yesterday (Saturday, January 18).
In Division One, Barnetby United lost 2-1 to Scotter United at Silver Street (report below and action pictures from Lee Fielden) while Briggensians were beaten 4-1 on their visit to College Wanderers. Justin Walker scored for the Brigg side.
At Brigg Recreation Ground, Briggensians Reserves went down 9-1 to Glenny's in a Division Three encounter, with George Marshall scoring for the home team.

Brigg Town Development were beaten 5-1 on their visit to Immingham Town yesterday in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier.

BARNETBY COME UP SHORT

Following the 6-0 stuffing at The Butchers Arms last week, The Railwaymen need a performance and they duly delivered despite not getting the result.
An impeccable minute's silence was observed by both sides to mark the passing of club legend Fred Brumpton who had passed away at the age of 91, and Barnetby nearly got off to the best of starts when Lawson had to tip over an O’Callaghan header with barely 30 seconds on the clock.
Barnetby had started better and created a couple more chances before the sucker punch was delivered as Dunderdale drilled home from Scotter’s first attack in the 8th minute.
The Railwaymen kept their heads up and continued to cause Scotter problems; Finnis chipped just wide before O’Callaghan rattled home his 25th of the season to level the scores.
A tighter second half saw both sides trading blows and a free kick floated into the Barnetby box saw Wainwright power home a header with 25 minutes to go.
Barnetby tried in vain for an equaliser but Scotter held firm to take the 3 points.

Barnetby are wearing their traditional black and white kit.
