FROM PAUL JOHNSON, BRIGG LINE RAIL CAMPAIGNER
In the media today it's all been about the increase in rail fares in the UK.
I spent most of yesterday explaining that the Brigg Line fares came down last year and will be frozen until January 2018.
This is part of the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, and today is the 47th anniversary of the withdrawal of the Sheffield Victoria to Manchester Piccadilly electric passenger services via Woodhead.
N.F. ADDS: Brigg has a Saturdays-only passenger train service to Sheffield and Grimsby/Cleethorpes via Barnetby.
