BRIGG LANDLORD ON THE MOVE

Richard Smith, mine host at the Black Bull in Wrawby Street, Brigg until it closed a few weeks ago, is now in temporary charge of the Lord Nelson, in the Market Place, while the regular man is taking a break.
As might be expected, many ex-Black Bull drinkers have followed Richard down to the Nelson.

BRIGG GETS THE BIRD

We are pleased to report sighting a few swifts in Brigg town centre at the weekend - over Bigby Street. They have been very late arriving this year and numbers appear to be down.
Any idea why?

BRIGG CAFE LAUNCHES LOYALTY SCHEME

Amici's Italian Cafe, in College Yard, Brigg, was handing out loyalty cards to customers and potential new customers in the town centre on Saturday. Buy nine hot drinks and get your 10th free!

WONDERFUL WEATHER HELPS DRAW SHOPPERS INTO BRIGG

Warm and sunny weather helped draw people to Saturday’s monthly Brigg Farmers’ Market and the adjacent general market.

We were very pleased to observe some of the “general” stalls attracting as much interest as the producers’ stands in the monthly section.

Brigg Blog made the traditional purchase from the Lincolnshire Poacher stall.

This is quality produce we can't resist!

BRIGG EXHIBITION BY ANCHOLME ARTISTS

The long-established Ancholme Artists group held an exhibition and sale of work in the town centre.

This was on Saturday and coincided with the monthly farmers’ market and the general market drawing many people into the town centre.

Both entrances to St John’s Church Hall were open to interested members of the public who wanted to view the artwork on offer.

Free admission and refreshments were available.

We noted with interest Bill Batchelor’s paintings of the two Brigg schools now long gone and demolished.

BRIGG BIKE NIGHT 2015 IS MAJOR SUCCESS

The first Brigg Bike Night after a lengthy gap proved a major success on Friday night.
There was a really heartening turn-out of spectators and bikers from a wide area.
The organisers must have been delighted!
The event was centred on Bridge Street, mainly around the Nelthorpe Arms and the  Yarborough Hunt pubs. The White Hart also shared in the trade, as did Dunham’s bakery. 
Many people also visited chippies in the town centre. The stalls that had been put in place for the following day’s farmers’ market were used as seating by a good many fish and chip customers as they enjoyed their takeaways.
We only observed a handful of what we’d class as vintage bikes, including three BSAs from the 1960s.
Brigg Blog was pleased to take a picture of bikers close to one of the Discover Brigg information boards, recently refurbished by Brigg Town Council (see picture above).
We think this nicely sums up the benefits of this major event for the town.
