BRIGG BLOG'S MARKET RASEN RACES PREVIEW

FROM MARKET RASEN RACECOURSE

Ladies get two racing days at Market Rasen Racecourse in the spring and summer. Now it’s the turn of the gents.
Lincolnshire’s only racetrack is staging Ferry Ales Brewery Gentleman’s Raceday on Saturday, 21st October.
Of course, members of the fairer sex are welcome too for a weekend afternoon of jump racing, plus pub games, photo booth, live music and real ales in the Tote Exacta Bar.
The Fiskerton brewery laid on a beer festival at the Prelude Meeting at the end of September, and now they are teaming up with the racecourse again.
There is a special discounted admission offer – two adult tickets for the price of one into the Tattersalls Enclosure - £18 using promotional code GENTS17, either at http://marketrasen.thejockeyclub.co.uk or on 0344 579 3009. The offer is available until midnight on Friday, 20th October.
Racing starts at 1.40pm on Saturday, 21st October, with gates open two hours before. The finale is at 5.05pm.
All three enclosures at the racecourse – County, Tattersalls and Lawn – will be open on Gentleman’s Day, offering visitors a choice of where to watch the races and enjoy refreshments.
The County Enclosure has several bars and places to eat in a friendly atmosphere, whether it’s the County Bar with its great views of the track and finishing post or a table in the Brocklesby Suite Restaurant.
Tattersalls is the heart of the action. Visit the Brocklesby Lawn to taste a range of real ales and enjoy pub games in between watching the horses as they come into the parade ring and getting up close to the winning horse in the winners’ enclosure. There are also various bars and eateries, including the recently developed tote Exacta Bar and Red Rum Bar with hot or cold food.
Picnics are welcome in the Lawn Enclosure – remember that alcohol is restricted to half a bottle of wine or four cans of beer per person. There is something for all ages; along with views of the parade ring there is a playground for the children and Victor Lucas Bar for the grown-ups.
Adult tickets are from £9 in advance, with accompanied children admitted free of charge. Young adults, aged 18 to 24 years, can get half-price admission by registering at RacePass18to24.co.uk to receive a free RacePass membership card. Senior citizens can obtain discounted admission by joining The Diamond Club, with details available online.
