ANCHOLME HEAD 2017 ROWING RACE IN BRIGG - VIEW 40+ PICTURES

Competitors  from clubs across the north and midlands came to Brigg  yesterday (Sunday, October 8) for the Ancholme Head 2017 rowing race.
It was organised by Ancholme Rowing Club, one of the town's oldest sporting organisations - founded in 1868.
Conditions were perfect for the race from Broughton Bridge to Brigg along the River Ancholme.
Our pictures show competitors getting ready at the rowing club's Manley Gardens headquarters and others taking to the water near Riverside Surgery, using the newly-installed landing stage.
We also offer some taken on or near the County Bridge, bedecked with its Brigg in Bloom flowers.
Ancholme club members worked very hard to stage the prestigious annual event.
With hundreds of competitors and spectators in this part of the town, a number of local businesses saw a welcome boost in takings.
Dunham's Bakery was busy serving sandwiches and snacks, while other people visited nearby pubs.
The White Hart's beer garden made an ideal vantage spot.
Among towns and cities represented by competitors were Bradford, Sheffield, Leicester, Doncaster, Lincoln, York, Leeds, Hull and Boston.
Ancholme Rowing Club is welcoming new members. Call 07704882451 to find out more. Or visit www.ancholmerowing.co.uk

Sadly, after we'd left this part of Brigg to attend another event, one of the rowers was taken ill. The Scunthorpe Telegraph has information on its website. Use this link...
