Local motorists and other drivers who are visiting or leaving Brigg should note that a major road closure is coming up in the town, with another in place at Wrawby.
Due to essential works being undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure, the A1084 will be closed at the barrier crossing where Bigby Road joins Bigby High Road in Brigg (close to the signal box).
A road closure will be in place here from 2am until 7.30am on Sunday (June 12).
Ahead of this coming into effect, work will be carried out on the crossing at Kettleby Lane in Wrawby from 10pm on Saturday night until 2am on Sunday.
Kettleby crossing having reopened to vehicular traffic by 2am on Sunday, it then features in the diversionary route for car drivers unable to use the Brigg crossing up to 7.30am.
During this period they are being advised to use the A18 Wrawby Road, Brigg, and then reach the A1084 via Kettleby Lane.
Network Rail will be working on the barrier crossing between Scawby Brook and Hibaldstow the following weekend.
As a result the B1206 will be closed to road traffic at Hibaldstow crossing between 10pm on June 18 and 7.30am on June 19, when drivers travelling between Brigg and Hibaldstow will need to divert through Scawby.
Brigg Blog is making a point of mentioning these rail-related road closures because, in March, closure of the Elsham barrier crossing for essential works caught out a number of guests who had attended the Saturday night annual dinner of the Briggensians' Association.
They left Elsham Golf Club, only to find that the B1206 back to Brigg (via Wrawby) was closed as Network Rail got ready to work on the crossing.
U-turns were then necessary, drivers having to re-route via Elsham village to Barnetby Top and then head back to Brigg on the A18 through Wrawby.
