BID TO DETER 'ROGUE TRADERS' FROM TARGETING BRIGG HOUSEHOLDS
Brigg is poised to become the first town in North Lincolnshire to sign up to an initiative to prevent doorstep crime.
North Lincolnshire Council is working with Humberside Police to introduce Trade Watch, details of which were given to Brigg Town Council's latest meeting.
Coun Rob Waltham explained that households could display door stickers telling cold callers they did not buy at the door.
This would deter 'rogue traders' offered to do roofing repairs and other jobs.
With a Town Council election coming up in May, Coun Waltham suggested making a recommendation to join the scheme but leave the issue for the "new" council to consider.
A local firm is to provide the stickers and also signs to be displayed on lamp-posts.
Plans for Trade Watch in North Lincolnshire were announced earlier this month.
