Brigg Town Council is supporting an application to convert a town centre pub into housing.
Harriton Beracha Ltd is seeking listed building consent and planning permission for change of use of the Nelthorpe Arms, on Bridge Street, to three dwelling houses.
As the first stage in the planning process, Brigg Town Council was consulted.
However, the final decision rests with North Lincolnshire Council, as the local planning authority.
Coun Mike Storey, chairing the meeting of Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee, said that because it was grade two listed did not mean the building had to remain a pub for the rest of its life.
It was intended to 'keep the look' of the existing frontage (pictured above).
He stressed the need for additional housing within the town and suggested this was a way of providing some without having to build additional properties.
Town Mayor Coun Sharon Riggall said a heritage statement submitted with the application revealed the Nelthorpe Arms building had been a house before it became a pub.
The committee agreed it was "in support" of the application, which will now be decided by the North Lincolnshire authority which says it will accept comments from the public up to May 17. Some have already been submitted.
The Nelthorpe Arms is still trading but the current pub lease will cease at the end of this month.
