There is going to be quite a party at a Brigg town centre pub on what is destined to be its final day before closing the doors for good.
"Please join us for the last night of the Nelthorpe Arms," says the management in an open invitation to the public. "Let's make it a night to remember!"
The event at the historic Bridge Street hostelry will be on Sunday, May 27 when the last pints will be pulled and enjoyed by the final customers.
Some members of popular local band The Dirty Pitchers will be there.
Attractions on the last night will include:
- Free bar snacks
- Free, unlimited cola for all children accompanied by an adult
- A charity quiz with proceeds donated to the Lions
- An open mic session from 7pm featuring some members of The Dirty Pitchers.
However, the current tenant's agreement will terminate shortly, and the owners of the premises are seeking planning permission to convert the grade two listed building from a pub to three dwellings.
"Trading history" submitted to the council in support of the application says that, as a pub/restaurant, it has been "operating at a loss".
The owners see conversion to housing as the way forward for this prominent three-storey structure near the County Bridge.
