BRIGG PUB READY TO SERVE LAST PINT BEFORE CLOSURE

Who will serve, and who will down, the very last pint at a Brigg pub that has been part of the town's social life since 1849?
The current tenant has given notice to the owners who have submitted an application for permission to convert the grade two listed Nelthorpe Arms into three dwellings.
This application has yet to be decided by North Lincolnshire Council planners and some objections have been lodged by members of the public.

But it seems very unlikely that the Nelthorpe Arms will reopen again after Sunday, May 27.
For the owners say there is a lack of interest in the building's current use as a pub.
Brigg Blog can now reveal that there's just a week to go before the current management   bows out.
Sunday will be quite a night with many locals turning up to sink a final pint or three at this historic hostelry on Bridge Street.
Older folk still call the pub Scanlons - a reference to the very long tenure of Myles and Mary Scanlon.
