The public consultation period has ended on an application to create more parking for Brigg shoppers.
North Lincolnshire Council is now considering whether to grant permission to Lidl for an extension to the existing store car park off Atherton Way, plus erection of a trolley bay, along with relocation and enhancement of footway and associated landscaping and including additional lighting.
The area is question is on the side of the car park nearest to the Old River Ancholme.
Brigg Town Council has expressed some concerns.
It feels a buffer is needed between the footway and the river, for cyclist and pedestrian safety.
The Town Council considers the use of Lidl's own land to expand the premises is fine, but the development should not impact on the footway and cyclepath.
Although the majority of applications these days are delegated to the North Lincolnshire Council planning department to decide, Brigg Blog thinks this one may end up going before one of the monthly meetings of the planning committee, compring elected councillors drawn from across the district.
This often happens when a town or parish has expressed concerns about an application.
Brigg Blog paid an afteroon visit to the Lidl store at the weekend when every space was taken in the car park. People were having to drive round in the hope of spotting someone else preparing to drive home.
