BIRTH OF A NEW ERA FOR REGISTRATION SERVICE WHICH COVERS BRIGG AREA?

We seem to recall there once being a births, marriages and deaths registration office in Brigg.
It was located on part the site now occupied by the Children's Centre, on the corner of Grammar School Road and Colton Street.
Latterly, we think the small office only opened on limited days of the week.
This is now a function provided by North Lincolnshire Council. But changes may be afoot. Could we call it the birth of a new era for registration services?

North Lincolnshire Council, North East Lincolnshire Council and Lincolnshire County Council registration services are looking at ways the services could work collaboratively to improve services to customers and reduce costs.
Sharing good practice and working collaboratively with North East Lincolnshire Council and Lincolnshire County Council could see services and choice for customers improved; staff and service resilience improved; and potential for operational and financial efficiencies to be made.
This partnership working could also create an effective platform in response to any possible future national changes in registration law and services.
Coun Richard Hannigan, from Kirmington, Cabinet Member for Governance and Transformation, said: “Currently, births and deaths must be registered in the district in which they occur. This can be confusing or frustrating for people who live on the border of other registration districts. We cannot legally merge registration districts, but by working more effectively with our neighbours we can deliver a better service for our customers.
“We are now looking at developing these proposals further to create an effective partnership to shape services in response to any future national changes, such as universal online registration or removal of boundary restrictions.
“We are already reaping the benefits of sharing services, including IT, Human Resources, Finance, Legal and Print and Design, with North East Lincolnshire Council."

NF ADDS: We think the registration office on Grammar School Road/Colton Street, Brigg, had closed by the mid-1980s. Can anyone recall when its days finally drew to an end?
