RAISING A GLASS TO BRIGG BEER FESTIVAL: 30 MID-MAY PICTURES FROM THE PAST

At this time in May, Brigg Blog would usually be previewing the District Lions' annual beer festival - always a highlight of the town's social calendar.
Sadly, the Coronavirus emergency put paid to regulars' hopes of visiting Brigg Beer Festival 2020 to sink a pint or three and chat to friends. Nor will there be one to enjoy this month.
However, we can still raise a glass to the volunteers who put so much effort into providing three-day festivals over many years, including the pulling of pints as people handed tokens over the bar in exchange for real ales that caught their eye!
The first festival was held in 1990 at the Angel Hotel, by special permission, after this Market Place venue had closed its doors to paying guests.
More recently the mid-May festival has been held in a unit at John Reid Transport off Atherton Way, The Barn behind the Nelthorpe Arms and Brigg & District Servicemen's Club on Coney Court.
Many people in Brigg will be hoping the District Lions are able to resume normal service in May 2022.
This club, of course, has supported many worthwhile causes over the years, and continues to do so.

These pictures were taken at various Brigg Beer Festivals held over the last 10 years. The one at the top of our post, we feel, captures the mood of these events.
