LISTED BUILDING CONSENT REFUSED FOR BRIGG TOWN CENTRE HOSTELRY
An application seeking permission to alter a prominent listed building within Brigg town centre has been refused by North Lincolnshire Council planners.
Listing building consent was sought for the installation of various replacement signs and external decorations at 24-25 Market Place - the Lord Nelson Hotel.
The application was made by owners Old Mill Brewery, of Snaith.
Brigg Town Council objected, feeling the proposals were not in keeping with the Conservation Area and Listed Buildings and would detract from the character of the Market Place.
North Lincolnshire Council's conservation section felt what was proposed would detract from the original architectural style of the listed building and the Brigg Conservation Area.
A company or individual refused permission has the right to appeal to the government in an effort to get the decision reversed.
North Lincolnshire Council has yet to announce a decision on a second application for advertisement consent to display various illuminated and non-illuminated signs at the Lord Nelson.
