SUPPORT FROM PUBLIC FOR NEW BRIGG ALDI STORE

Fifty people sent comments about the planned new Aldi store in Brigg to North Lincolnshire Council.
The deadline for views to be with  planners, as part of the consultation process, was today (August 4).
Fifty comments from the general public is a very high number for an application in this area.
Aldi is seeking the go-ahead for a store on Bridge Street, with entry and access off the A18.
There's strong support for the store plan among the online comments.
One Brigg resident  told planners: "It is because this store and others have confidence in Brigg that this town is 'bucking the trend' and going from strength to strength while others of similar size are becoming ghost towns."
As the "comments by" stage has only just been reached, it's too early gauge when North Lincolnshire Council will be making its ruling on the application.
However, our personal forecast - for what it's worth - is it will take months rather than weeks before we know whether another national retailer will be coming to town to join the likes of Tesco, Lidl, Wilko and B&M.
