BANK HOLIDAYS OVER, IT'S BACK TO NORMAL SERVICE IN BRIGG

Lloyds Bank in Brigg was open today (January 2). This branch is in Wrawby Street and still referred to as “the TSB” by many of its customers.
There was a change of name to Lloyds TSB some years ago, and more recently to Lloyds.
There was once a Lloyds Bank branch in Bigby Street, of course, prior to the merger.  The building is now used for retail purposes.
The changing face of banking in a small market town...
Some of you will recall taking a shilling to Glebe Road school every Monday in the 1960s, to deposit with the then Trustees Bank – the money being entered in  large green bank books.
This was a very worthwhile scheme, educating youngsters about the value of money and introducing them to the concept of saving and banking.
The aptly named Reg STOCKS – in this context - was then the headmaster.

Presumably the Trustee Bank saving-at-school scheme operated in other Lindsey County Council schools across the district.
