When the parade across town takes place on Monday, June 4 - from Bridge Street to the Recreation Ground, via Grammar School Road - how about a small detour?
We think it might be very fitting to include Elizabeth Court - the housing development on the Springbank estate named in honour of Her Majesty by Brigg Urban District Council during the early part of her reign.
There's room outside Elizabeth Court to assemble the parade for a small ceremony, perhaps with local clergy in attendance. Or it could be non-religious. Perhaps a loyal toast (non-alcoholic) could be drunk, with plastic glasses raised.
This detour would not add much distance to the existing route, which will see the parade turn off Grammar School Road, along Preston Drive and then through the children's park between Hawthorn Avenue and South View Avenue to the Rec.
For those who are unclear on their Brigg street geography, Elizabeth Court is to be found at the Wrawby end of Sunningdale Avenue and Northern Avenue.
It's probably the case that we're too late coming forward with our idea to re-route the parade - even if the organisers of the celebrations considered it acceptable. However, come June 4, it's to be hoped that something Jubilee-related takes place in the area of Elizabeth Court.
