NEW BRIGG MAYOR CARL SHERWOOD INSTALLED

A picture of Her Majesty The Queen provides the backdrop  for Town Clerk, Jeanette Woollard, new Town Mayor Councillor Carl Sherwood and former Mayor Councillor John Kitwood at Brigg Town Council's annual meeting last night in the Angel Suite.

Councillor Carl Sherwood was installed last night as the Town Mayor of Brigg for 2012/13, in succession to Councillor John Kitwood, who had completed his year of office.
However, Coun Kitwood was pretty soon elected Deputy Town Mayor, which means that - a year from now - he will be in line to serve another spell as our first citizen.
Councillor Sherwood, who is very well known in Brigg, has chosen Brigg Breast Cancer Support and Brigg LIVES as his chosen charities.
He told fellow town councillors who elected him to the post of Mayor (after a year as Deputy) that it was a great honour for him and his partner, Louise. Praising the work done by the predecessor, Councillor Sherwood said he would endeavour to do whatever he could to promote Brigg.
He said it was going to be a particularly special year, coinciding with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations on June 4 in Brigg and the arrival of the Olympic Torch. These were things that only happened once in a lifetime and the new Mayor thought they would create what he described as a feel-good factor.
