North Lincolnshire Council has granted permission to prune a tall Sequoia tree "within and protected by Tree Preservation (Brigg) Order 1971."
The local authority approved the work at 17 St Clares Walk, which is outside the Conservation Area. The tree is located in the front garden of the property in this residential cul-de-sac off Bigby Street.
In granting permission, the council set out a number of conditions limiting the removal of "deadwood over the road and driveway," specifying what can be done to "reduce spread" and the extent of the suggested crown lift. Also included in the consent is the removal of ivy.
A report on the application, prepared by council staff, said: "The request for pruning of the tree appears to be to reduce the potential risk that it may pose and this will enable the tree to be retained here to continue to give visual amenity to the location. Once the ivy has been severed and allowed to die back, a visual check of the tree may assist in assessing the structure of the tree."
The council received no comments from the public about this application.
