BRIGG ROAD CLOSURE COMING UP

A road closure is coming up in Brigg which will require a diversion for motorists.
Advanced notice has been given by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd that Cadney Road will need to shut to vehicular traffic overnight on Saturday/Sunday, November 14 and 15, from midnight until 6am.
This is to allow inspection work to be undertaken on the railway bridge which forms part of the Cleethorpes-Sheffield railway line.
A Diversionary route will be signposted via Cadney, Howsham and Kettleby for motorists to follow during this period.
Brigg Blog understands that the Brigg line will continue to be used by trains during the November lockdown period.
This distinctive railway bridge over the Old River Ancholme is not the original installed at this location in the late 1840s when the line opened. The first was designed by engineer Sir John Fowler for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway.
In the late 19th century he was involved with building the world famous Forth Bridge in Scotland.
