TESCO STEPS UP IMPROVEMENTS TO HELP BRIGG SHOPPERS

There has been a welcome addition to the Tesco store in Brigg - 20 years after it opened - which will benefit many customers.
Steps, with a handrail, have been added between Cary Lane and the side of the store.
Hundreds of customers have been taking a shortcut across an adjoining grassy area, rather than stay on the footpath alongside the store's perimeter and then use the paved path at the edge of the car park to reach the entrance.
The distance customers have to walk has now been reduced and the grassed area will benefit from greatly reduced footfall.
Perhaps the store will consider adding some flowers at this spot, in due course.
Tesco's slogan Every Little Helps could be applied, although the improvement in this case is considerable rather than small.
When someone told Brigg Blog that steps were being added near Cary Lane, we visualised the shortcut through shrubbery on the other side of the store (see the fourth picture below).
It's still there but should see declining use now the steps have been added nearby.
That's a good thing as the inclined and unofficial route through the shrubs is far from ideal, with a wooden bar to negotiate on a slope.
