BRIGG SPORTSMEN REACH RECORD STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

Two Brigg cricketers have ended a very successful league season with batting averages above 100 runs per innings - a very high standard indeed.
It is thought to be the first time that two players have finished with three-figure averages in the history of Brigg Town Cricket Club, which began playing back in 1974.
Liam Redmond averaged 149.50 and Matthew Bell 117.40 during Brigg's championship-winning 2018 campaign in  Lincolnshire County Cricket League division four.
Liam scored 299 runs, with a highest score of 129 not out; Matthew made 587 runs, with a best of 116 not out.
Matthew batted in 12 league games but Liam in only five, due to work commitments.
Also among division four's leading run-scorers (all teams) this summer were Brigg's Danny Bradley, who made 222, and Jack Richards who managed 168.
Brigg Town's Tom Brock took more wickets than any other bowler playing in division four (involving eight teams) and also had the section's best average.
Tom took 35 league wickets (average 6.03) with a best performance of seven wickets for 16 runs.
Also among the division's leading bowlers (all teams) were Brigg's Nick Beacock (16 wickets @ 14.13) and Phil Dewfall (16 wickets @ 11.63).
Brigg Town have finished their programme but a few division four teams have games coming up to conclude the season this Saturday (September 15).
Brigg played 14 league games, winning 12, having one rained off without a ball bowled, and losing just one.

The Lincolnshire League will be awarding trophies to the top batsman and bowler in each division.
