'FANTASTIC BRIGG FACILITY' AMONG HIGHLIGHTS DURING BUSY YEAR

Many positive developments in Brigg during the past 12 months were highlighted by Coun Rob Waltham when he delivered the North Lincolnshire Council report to the Annual Town Meeting, held in the Angel Suite.
For sports fans, he kicked off with revamped Brigg Recreation Ground -  "a really fantastic facility" with its new all-weather pitch, courts and changing rooms.
The Newlands housing estate had benefited from a "significant highway scheme" with improved drainage and paths.
The CallConnect dial-up bus service now had 200 registered users locally, including many young people.
He said the Ancholme Way footpath/cycle-way was on track to reach Worlaby in June, while the immensely popular Imagination Library scheme was giving a book every month to young readers.
New Traffic Regulation Orders were seeking to deal with parking problems on Atherton Way, where the primary school is located.
The new £13.9-million Vale Academy building had opened with the next leg of the scheme - demolition of the old buildings - to follow.
Major rewiring and other work had been carried out at Sir John Nelthorpe School, while Geoff Holland Park, off Station Road, had opened in memory of a great contributor to the town.
"It has been a busy year," Coun Waltham concluded.
He delivered the report on behalf of himself and fellow Brigg & Wolds representatives on North Lincolnshire Council, Couns Carl and Nigel Sherwood.
