Many small sites in Brigg have been used for house-building in recent years, sometimes after knocking down existing properties, such as the former Whepton's garage near Bridge Street and the ex-joiner's shop off the Angel car park.
However, we are surprised that the piece of land pictured above has never been redeveloped to provide homes. It is between Glebe Road, East Parade and West Square.
Below we see how the site used to look around 2002 when still occupied by lock-up garages.
Vandalised and graffiti-ridden, when eventually demolished a few years ago we think they were in the ownership of social landlord North Lincolnshire Homes (now called Ongo).
The garages had belonged to North Lincolnshire Council and pre-1996 were in the stock of Glanford Borough Council. It's possible they might even have been put up during the time of Brigg Urban District Council.
What matters is whether Ongo or North Lincolnshire Council owns this site today and what is planned for the future. We'll endeavour to find out.

At the moment, there are small developments on brown-field sites. Essentially, this is process is in-filling - demolish and redevelop.
Any significant urbanisation of Brigg as a town will probably occur outside its boundary...We already have established sectors in the context of Brigg's urban town in other parishes and even I a different county.
This makes Brigg the victim of mixed urban expansion, which allows other parishes, such as Scawby, Broughton and Wrawby benefiting financially, but without the onerous task of being responsible for the demands these zonal sections' needs and exertions within Brigg, as a parish, infrastructure.
There is an obvious need to redefine Brigg's official boundary....if not, adjoining parishes will have potentially the greater influence on the nature and siting of town's future urban expansion.
