DOING THE SPADEWORK ON BRIGG ALLOTMENTS

Brigg's two sets of allotments are located at the motorway flyover end of Grammar School Road and on Atherton Way/Redcombe Lane.
Green-fingered folk rent them from Brigg Town Council, which spent a good deal of time at its latest meeting discussing improvements.
At the Grammar School Road site, one tenant recently left but a  replacement has soon stepped in.
The tenants asked the council for holes in the site's roadway  to be filled in with a bag of stones costing an estimated £60. There was also a request for a skip to be hired (estimated cost £200) and made available onsite.
Deputy Town Mayor Coun Ann Eardley, chairing the meeting in the Angel Suite, explained that car exhausts were being damaged by the uneven road surface when deliveries were  made by tenants, such as loads of manure.
Coun Penny Smith said the holes definitely needed filling, but felt it would need more than one bag to do the job. She failed to see why a skip should be provided.
Coun Brian Parker thought a skip might be hired for £100.
Coun Rob Waltham successfully suggested up to £200 should be allocated for the stones, plus labour. But no skip should be provided.

A bit steep for a skip....I get a big un for £110ish.. Suggest folks shop around to save money.

Also suggest....someone with a car and trailer can get some gravel from the local quarry - for £60 one could get a wagon-load of the stuff...
It's put into the trailer by a mechanical shovel.....all then needs to be done is the unloading...
