What percentage of Brigg properties still have useable coal
fires?
We were walking from Cary Lane towards Spring’s Parade on
Friday and sensed a coal-like smell.
Then we noticed smoke rising from a chimney at the Woolpack
pub.
There are still older Brigg houses on some of our long-established estates
which light coal fires. But the number continues to dwindle.
There is nothing like a REAL coal fire, as the TV adverts
used to tell us.
Unless, of course, you have the job of raking out the ashes,
fashioning the firelighters from newspaper and carrying in the
coal.
