SPECIAL RAILTOUR TRAIN IN BRIGG TODAY

A special railtour from the Midlands, loaded with train enthusiasts, will be passing through Brigg today (Saturday, September 6). It's due at our station at 11.55am.
The Trent Almighty railtour will use the Brigg line and pass the 11.10am Cleethorpes to Sheffield Midland passenger train at Northorpe (some of the Brigg line is single track but there are double-track sections).
The train, organised by Pathfinder Tours,  will be taking the Scunthorpe route to Crewe on its return from Cleethorpes and the Barton line. It will NOT be returning through our town. If you want to see or photograph/video the excursion on the return leg, we suggest you get to Barnetby station for 4.14pm or Elsham level crossing at 4.18pm.
Motive power through Brigg will be diesel (Class 20 and 37), not a steam loco.
It is rare for railtours to pass through Brigg but our line is bound to provide plenty of interest for the train fans onboard.
A good many Brigg Blog followers will recall turning out to watch steam-hauled specials chuffing by in past years, including a Stanier Black Five 4-6-0, a B1 4-6-0 and and V2 2-6-2 Green Arrow. There was also much excitement when a Deltic diesel paid us a visit. Surely a one-off!
