The November 5 BASH - Brigg Amateur Social Historians - meeting saw
Brian Peeps, from Barton on Humber, give an illustrated talk on Keels and Sloops of the Humber .
Brian explained the difference between a keel and
a sloop (it's all in the sails) and showed what life was like living and
working on the boats and wharfs on the River Humber, River Trent and River Ancholme. More than 80 people
attended the meeting.
The next BASH meeting on Tuesday, December 3 will feature A Jersey Lily - The Life and Times
of Lillie Langtry - a unique woman, years ahead of her
time!
This will be an illustrated presentation by Josie
Webb.
The venue is Brigg Servicemen's Club, adjoining the main car park, 8pm start. Admission free. All welcome.
