BIG RISE IN BRIGG CRIME RECORDED


Crime in Brigg rose by 82 per cent in a month, latest figures show.
There were 61 reported crimes during December 2019 after only 35 had taken place in November.
Details for December have been released through police.co.uk as follows:

There were 12 crimes in/near the town centre, nine in the Bridge Street area and six on the Springbank housing estate.
The police statistics cover a one-mile radius from the town centre, which takes in parts of neighbouring parishes Scawby and Broughton.
Nine of the 61 offences recorded during December 2019 happened on/near the Waters Edge housing estate which is just outside the Brigg boundary.
December 2018 - in comparison - saw a total of 44 Brigg crimes; during December 2017 there were 41; in December 2016 there were 38.
So last month's 61-crime total is well up on previous years.
However, it only represents an average of two crimes a day across the town.
