BROUGHTON CELEBRATE CUP FINAL VICTORY

Congratulations to Broughton for winning a coveted Lincolnshire County Cricket League trophy at the weekend.
Broughton beat Hartsholme 2nds, from Lincoln, by 33 runs in the final of the Bob Welton Cup on Sunday (August 11).
The match was played at Outcasts' Hirst Priory Ground, near Crowle.
Having lost a couple of early wickets, Broughton were boosted by 41 from Nick Dobbs and 83 by Richard Green, going on to total 192 all-out.
They then made early inroads into the Hartsholme order after tea before the Lincoln side's middle order staged a revival.
However, their side were unable to threaten Broughton's total, being contained to 159 for seven.
Broughton's Ollie Wood took two for 42, including the important wicket of Hartsholme top scorer Jack Senescall, who made 71 before being stumped by Nick Dobbs.
However, the best bowling figures came from the experienced Paul Mitchell, who only conceded 19 runs in his nine overs while taking two wickets.
Shaun Clark, who opened the attack, gave away just 15 runs during his nine-over allocation, although he did not get among the wickets.
The Bob Welton Cup is a long-standing knockout competition, which started with first and second rounds in May and continued with quarter and semi-finals played in July.
Broughton previously lifted the trophy in 2005.
With thanks to Broughton CC's Neil Simpson for the pictures.

In North Lindsey League Division Two on Sunday, Normanby Park picked up their first win of the season when beating a depleted Hibaldstow by eight wickets. Hibaldstow made 86, Jack Stothard top scoring with 32, but Normanby lost only two wickets in reaching their modest target.
This Sunday (August 18) Hibaldstow have a home game against Appleby-Frodingham.
